Gold Clean

10 Step Carpet

Cleaning Process

Step 1: Pre-Inspection
We will walk through your home with you to visually inspect your carpets. This is to identify potential permanent staining, the depth of soiling, and any signs of wear and tear which will then be discussed with you. We also perform a dye test to confirm that colours will not be removed, a fibre test to ensure we use the correct cleaning solution and check the carpet backing, as some are prone to shrinkage. The moving of furniture will also be discussed at this stage.

Step 2: Commercial Pre-vacuum

All areas will be thoroughly vacuumed using commercial-grade vacuum equipment. Thorough vacuuming removes bonded dry soil, which would otherwise turn into a muddy residue when wet. Removing dry soil is the most important step of the cleaning process.

Step 3: Furniture
As discussed during the pre-inspection visit, light furniture will be carefully moved. Sectionals need to be taken apart before our arrival. Larger pieces, such as china hutches, beds, wardrobes and electronics are left in place under our regular pricing structure. All furniture will be protected with disposable blocks and tabs.
Step 4: Pre-Spray
The pre-spray process penetrates deep into the fibres, which helps loosen dirt, soils, and oils. This is achieved by enzymes breaking down the carpet soils leaving a cleaner, vibrant-looking carpet and resulting in fewer chemicals being used in the later steps of the cleaning process. It will also reduce chemical residue that could lead to rapid re-soiling. A short dwell time is required following the pre-spray to ensure the process is fully effective. If this step is missed out, the dirt, soils and oils will not be removed from the carpet during the extraction and rinse step.

Step 5: Agitation
Your carpet will be agitated using a rotary cleaning machine or carpet pile brush. This massages the pile following the pre-spray, loosening attached dirt and debris from the fibres. For example when we clean clothes in a washing machine, the cycle moves the fabrics around to loosen attached soils from the fibres. Agitation follows the same principle as a washing machine cycle, as it moves the carpet fibres around to detach dirt and debris resulting in a more thorough clean.
Step 6: Soil Extraction and Rinse
In this step, all of the oils, soils and cleaning products used in the earlier steps, will be removed by thoroughly rinsing with a powerful extraction cleaning system, without over- wetting the carpet. Every carpet that we clean is pH balanced through extraction and rinse, this is to ensure no sticky residue being left behind. This step will also leave your carpet feeling soft and looking vibrant.
Step 7: Post Spot Treatment
Any stubborn spots or stains that remain will receive extra treatment with our specialty spotting solutions. A further rinse and extraction will then be required to remove any residual cleaning solution.
For longer carpet life and to reduce the risk of future permanent stains, you may also want to add our optional Diamond Clean (Step 11). This includes a water-based stain protector to your carpet.

We also offer our own label Professional Stain Remover only £9.99 per bottle! Our technicians demonstrate how to handle any future spills, using the product to minimise the risk of permanent staining.

Step 8: Post Grooming
Your carpet will be groomed so that the pile of your carpet stands tall when we leave. This process will also remove any footprints or cleaning marks that were left during the previous cleaning steps. Post grooming will also help the carpet pile to dry faster and maintain its proper position.
Step 9: Speed Dry
We use Dri- Pod air movers to accelerate the drying process, this along with our ventilation advice provided in our client information sheet will help your carpets to dry faster.
Step 10: Post-Cleaning Inspection
Our technician will walk with you through your home or business to inspect our work. We will advise of any flaws or stains that may not have responded to the treatments and cleaning process. Once you are completely satisfied with our discussion and service, you can confirm you are satisfied by signing the service receipt.
